The Glendale Vikings will head out on the road to face off against the Curwensville Golden Tide at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Glendale is hoping to put an end to a six-game streak of away losses dating back to last season.
Last Friday, Glendale lost to West Branch on the road by a decisive 35-21 margin.
Troy Misiura put forth a good effort for the losing side as he rushed for 98 yards and two touchdowns on only 12 carries.
Even if they lost, Glendale's defensive line still kept up the pressure with four sacks. Leading the way was Daniel Williams and his two sacks.
Meanwhile, Curwensville's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fourth straight loss. The contest between Curwensville and Juniata Valley wasn't particularly close, with Curwensville falling 35-21. The matchup was a 14-14 toss-up at halftime, but Curwensville was blown out by Juniata Valley in the second.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Sammy Gustafson, who rushed for 65 yards and a touchdown on only seven carries. The team also got some help courtesy of Cael Butler, who picked up 106 receiving yards and a touchdown.
The losses dropped Glendale to 2-6 and Curwensville to 1-7.
Glendale took their win against Curwensville in their previous meeting back in October of 2022 by a conclusive 49-23. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Curwensville's Dan McGarry, who rushed for 112 yards and a touchdown on only ten carries, and also threw for 250 yards and two touchdowns. Now that he won't be playing on Friday, will it be that much easier for Glendale to walk away with another win? There's only one way to find out.
