Solomon is 0-3 against Classical since January of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Solomon Gorillas on the road again and play against the Classical Saints at 8:00 p.m. on January 26th. Both teams come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Monday, Solomon earned a 53-44 victory over Herington. The win was just what Solomon needed coming off of a 60-40 loss in their prior match.
Classical posted their biggest victory yet this season on Tuesday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Centre 69-41 on the road. Given Classical's advantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 82nd, while Centre is ranked 333rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Classical got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Sam Wilkey out in front who scored 16 points along with seven rebounds and two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Charlie Graham, who scored 11 points along with six assists and three steals.
The win got Solomon back to even at 5-5-1. As for Classical, their win was their 13th straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-2.
Solomon suffered a grim 67-41 defeat to Classical when the teams last played back in January of 2023. Thankfully for Solomon, Carter Sinclair (who scored 20 points along with five rebounds and four steals) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
