Briella Hack spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and one unearned) runs on eight hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Sarah Marcheske, who went 1-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Reagan Ostram also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.
Meanwhile, Waukesha West unfortunately witnessed the end of their seven-game winning streak on Monday. They fell just short of Oconomowoc by a score of 5-4.
Anna Dornbach was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: she struck out nine batters over six innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off ten hits (and only one walk).
On the hitting side, Payton Hisel was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI. Kaiya Kraner was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one triple and two RBI.
Kettle Moraine pushed their record up to 13-8 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.8 runs over those games. As for Waukesha West, their loss dropped their record down to 14-9.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Tuesday. Kettle Moraine hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.6 home runs per game. However, it's not like Waukesha West struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 0.7 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Kettle Moraine beat Waukesha West 12-7 in their previous meeting back in April. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Lasers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
