Basketball Game Preview: Notus Pirates vs. Idaho City Wildcats

Notus is 9-1 against Idaho City since January of 2017 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. After both having extra time off, the two teams will dust off their jerseys to face off against one another at 7:30 p.m. One thing working in Notus' favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last four contests.

Idaho City better have a healthy lead at halftime, because if last week is any indication, that's when Notus really get things going. Notus blew past Greenleaf Friends Academy 69-44 two weeks ago. The Pirates have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three matchups by 25 points or more this season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Notus to victory, but perhaps none more so than Caleb Cudaback, who went 5 of 11 on his way to 15 points and seven rebounds. The dominant performance also gave Cudaback a new career-high in assists (four). Derrick Huter was another key player, going 6 for 12 on his way to 15 points and four steals.

Notus smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in six consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Idaho City's undefeated season came to an end after three games back in December of 2024. They had to suffer through a 61-34 loss at the hands of North Star. The loss was the Wildcats' first of the season.

Having lost for the first time this season, Idaho City fell to 3-1. As for Notus, their win bumped their record up to 6-2.

Notus took their victory against Idaho City in their previous matchup back in February of 2024 by a conclusive 78-52. Will Notus repeat their success, or does Idaho City have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
