Basketball Recap: Hardin-Central Skates Past Southwest with Ease

Hardin-Central had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 26.3 points) and they went ahead and made it five on Tuesday. They blew past the Southwest Wildcats, posting a 68-33 victory. The Bulldogs have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four matchups by 25 points or more this season.

Several Wildcats players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Grant Warren, who posted 18 points and seven rebounds. The dominant performance gave Warren a new career-high in rebounds.

Hardin-Central pushed their record up to 5-1 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.4 points per game. As for Southwest, they are on a seven-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-6.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hardin-Central will take on Carrollton at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Southwest, they will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Polo at 6:00 p.m. on January 9, 2025.
