Basketball Recap: Bear Grass Charter Now 6-2 over Last Eight Games

If Columbia wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Bear Grass Charter, they should've done a better job of containing Callee Perry. The Bear Grass Charter Bears snuck past the Columbia Wildcats with a 47-43 win on Tuesday thanks in part to Perry, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 12 rebounds. She has been hot for a while, having also posted two or more steals the last 18 times she's played.

Another player making a difference was Hylee(Al) Jarrett, who posted 12 points and seven steals. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in steals.

Several Wildcats players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Shetana Spencer, who dropped a double-double on 23 points and 13 boards. Ny'Keyia Basnight was another key player, dropping a double-double on 15 points and 11 rebounds.

Bear Grass Charter is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 11-5 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.9 points per game. As for Columbia, they moved to 4-8 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Bear Grass Charter wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 56-43 loss against Holmes on the 29th. Columbia has also already played their next matchup, a 38-18 victory against Northeast Academy For Aerospace and Advanced Tech on the 29th.
