Randleman and the Eagles are an even 3-3 against one another since January of 2022, but not for long. The Randleman Tigers will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against the Uwharrie Charter Eagles at 7:30 p.m. on February 6th. Randleman knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past eight matchups -- so hopefully the Eagles like a good challenge.
Last Friday, Randleman was able to grind out a solid win over the Cougars, taking the game 61-49. Given Randleman's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 135th, while the Cougars are ranked 426th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Randleman's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Tyshaun Goldston, who scored 21 points along with five rebounds and two steals. Goldston hasn't dropped below 16 points for six straight games. Connor Cassidy was another key contributor, scoring six points along with eight steals and six rebounds.
Meanwhile, even though Trinity scored an imposing 69 points on Friday, Uwharrie Charter still came out on top. Uwharrie Charter came out on top in a nail-biter against the Bulldogs and snuck past 71-69. The win was just what Uwharrie Charter needed coming off of a 62-33 loss in their prior game.
Randleman pushed their record up to 16-4 with that victory, which was their fifth straight on the road. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.6 points per game. As for Uwharrie Charter, their win bumped their record up to 9-11.
Everything went Randleman's way against the Eagles in their previous matchup back in January as the Tigers made off with a 67-44 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Randleman since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
