The Pewaukee Pirates are taking a road trip to take on the Brookfield Central Lancers at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Brookfield Central will be up against a hot Pewaukee team: the squad just extended their winning streak to three. Everything went the Pirates' way against Campbellsport on Tuesday as they made off with an 8-2 victory.
Samantha Brewster spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on seven hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Pewaukee got a massive performance out of Estella Levas, who went 2-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. That triple was Levas' first of the season. Hailey Hutchens was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one double.
Pewaukee hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least one batters in three consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, Brookfield Central got the win against Waukesha North on Wednesday by a conclusive 8-2. The win was nothing new for the Lancers as they're now sitting on three straight.
Ellie Brand was excellent, going 2-for-4 with three RBI and two runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Ashley Huegerich, who went 1-for-3 with three runs.
Pewaukee's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-6. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for Brookfield Central, their record is now 11-2.
Thursday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Pewaukee hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .354. However, it's not like Brookfield Central struggles in that department as they've averaged .322. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Pewaukee might still be hurting after the 9-3 loss they got from Brookfield Central in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can the Pirates avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
