The Rising Sun Shiners will venture away from home to challenge the Hauser Jets at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. Rising Sun has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the matchup with three straight losses, while Hauser will come in with five straight wins.
Rising Sun fought the good fight in their overtime game against Waldron on Saturday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Mohawks by a score of 50-48. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Shiners have suffered against the Mohawks since January 31, 2018.

Despite the loss, Rising Sun saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Vicky Erickson dropped a double-double with 15 points and 19 rebounds. Those 19 boards set a new season-high mark for Erickson. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaylen Peelman, who posted 13 points along with seven rebounds and three steals.
While Hauser didn't have the best season last year (they finished 10-14), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They blew past Victory College Prep 59-23 on Saturday. The contest marked the Jets' most dominant victory of the season so far.
Hauser's win came from a few key players Rising Sun will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was June Berkenstock, who shot 50% from the field en route to 12 points and five boards. Payton Norris also deserves some recognition as she scored her first points of the season.
Hauser was working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in December of 2024.
Hauser's win bumped their record up to 5-1. As for Rising Sun, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-4.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Rising Sun has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 30.6 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Hauser struggles in that department as they've been averaging 32.2 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Rising Sun was able to grind out a solid victory over Hauser when the teams last played back in November of 2024, winning 57-44. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Shiners since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
