Baseball Game Preview: Lynn Bears vs. Vina Red Devils

The Lynn Bears will head out on the road to square off against the Vina Red Devils at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Lynn has three straight victories, Vina has five straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Fans were treated to a battle of the Bears on Thursday. Lynn never let Phillips get on the board and left with a 12-0 win. The result was nothing new for Lynn, who have now won six matches by nine runs or more so far this season.

Dylan Dunagan and Austin Dodd were a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Dunagan tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Dodd tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Dunagan has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. At bat, Dunagan scored two runs and stole Five bases. while going 2-for-2, while Dodd scored two runs and stole Five bases. while getting on base in both of his plate appearances.

In other batting news, Laythen Uptain was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing Five bases. while going 1-for-1. He also hit a double, marking his first of the season. Conner Tittle was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing Four bases. while getting on base in both of his plate appearances.

Lynn was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .379 or higher in three consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Saturday just wasn't the day for Vina's offense. They lost 16-0 to Red Bay on Saturday.

Vina's loss dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Lynn, their record is now 8-1.

Everything went Lynn's way against Vina when the teams last played back in March of 2018, as Lynn made off with a 20-1 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Lynn since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
