The Forge Christian Fury will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against the Lyons Lions at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams are strolling into their games after big wins in their previous games.
Forge Christian's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They blew past Moon Valley 11-0. The Fury haven't had any issues with the Rockets recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.
Ben McLean was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out eight over five innings pitched. What's more, he gave up only zero walks, the fewest he's had since back in April of 2024. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in May of 2024.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Easton Wilde, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Burke Jasa was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-4.
Meanwhile, Lyons gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on March 6th. They were the clear victors by a 9-1 margin over Liberty Common.
Like Forge Christian, Lyons also got a great game from a two-way player: Zack LaCrosse. On the mound, LaCrosse struck out six batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits (and not a single walk). Meanwhile, Jake LaCrosse pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. At bat, LaCrosse scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3, while Jake scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
In other batting news, Wyatt Fitzgerald was excellent, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4. Another player making a difference was Calvin Russell, who went 1-for-4 with three RBI and one double.
Forge Christian now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Lyons, their win bumped their record up to 1-0.
