The Spencer Greenwave will take on the Valdosta Wildcats in a holiday battle at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
As a matter of fact, Spencer put up the most points they have all season on Friday. They blew past Jordan 57-29. The win continues a trend for the Greenwave in their matchups with the Red Jackets: they've now won five in a row.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Spencer to victory, but perhaps none more so than Nadra Rosser, who almost dropped a double-double with ten points and nine rebounds. The dominant performance also gave Rosser a new career-high in three-point shooting accuracy (50%). Shamani Lewis was another key player, putting up five points in addition to ten steals and five boards.
Spencer smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 35 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in 18 consecutive contests dating back to last season.
While Valdosta didn't have the best season last year (they finished 9-17), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. The stars were shining brightly for them in a 63-45 victory over Ware County on Tuesday. Given the Wildcats' advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 54th, while the Gators are ranked 228th) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Spencer better keep an eye on Lauren Bloom. She was instrumental in Valdosta's win, dropping a double-double with 21 points and 11 steals. Bloom is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in each of the last six games she's played. Another player making a difference was Kamari Carter, who posted nine points and four steals.
Valdosta's win bumped their record up to 8-1. As for Spencer, their victory bumped their record up to 6-2.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Spencer has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 38 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Valdosta struggles in that department as they've been averaging 35.1 boards.
