Snowflake has won seven straight games at home, while Show Low has won seven straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Tuesday. The Lobos will host the Cougars at 2:30 p.m. Snowflake's hitters haven't had much luck over their past three matchups, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Snowflake managed to slip by Valley Christian the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Lobos came up short against the Trojans on Friday, falling 11-1.
Graycee Skousen was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-2 with one home run.
Meanwhile, Show Low never let their opponents score on Friday. They blew past Holbrook 12-0. Considering the Cougars have won 15 contests by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Addisyn Clark was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits over four innings pitched. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one home run and three RBI.
In other pitching news, Lyndie Wallentine looked comfortable as she pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up a single earned run in four consecutive appearances.
Back at the plate, Avery Ervien and Ari Rivera did most of the damage at the plate: Ervien went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, one triple, and one RBI, while Rivera scored two runs while going 3-for-4. The dominant performance also gave Rivera a new career-high in doubles (two). Tatum Townsend was another key player, scoring a run while going 3-for-3.
Show Low always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .633. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Holbrook only posted an OBP of .133.
Show Low's win bumped their record up to 18-5. As for Snowflake, their loss dropped their record down to 10-6.
Tuesday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Snowflake has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .469. However, it's not like Show Low struggles in that department as they've averaged .566. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Snowflake suffered a grim 20-10 defeat to Show Low in their previous meeting two weeks ago. Will the Lobos have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more softball content.
