There's no place like home for the Concord Spiders, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road on Saturday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against West Rowan on Tuesday and snuck past 66-64. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Jaden Reid was his usual excellent self, scoring 16 points. That's the first time this season that he scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Jadah Freeman, who scored ten points along with seven assists.
When it comes to explaining why West Rowan lost, one person who can't be blamed is Will Givens. Despite the final result, he scored 27 points along with six rebounds. Givens scored a full 42.2% of West Rowan's points, the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Brant Graham was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with three steals.
West Rowan struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only four offensive rebounds. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Concord pulled down 16 offensive rebounds.
Concord's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-4. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 74.3 points per game. As for West Rowan, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-2.
Concord and Albemarle will round out the year against one another at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday at. Albemarle comes in still looking for their first win of the season. As for West Rowan, they will take on Carson at 10:30 a.m. on December 28th. Carson has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
