South Effingham kicked off their season on the road  on Thursday and hit a couple of potholes. They fell just short of the Lakeside Panthers by a score of  2-1. The Mustangs haven't had much luck with the Panthers recently, as the team has come up short the last six times they've met.
 Despite the  loss, South Effingham had strong showings from  Leah Magana, who  had 22 assists and three  digs, and  Lauren Olson, who  had seven  digs and one  assist.
Lakeside has started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.
 South Effingham didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next  game,  a  2-0  defeat against Statesboro on the 7th. As for Lakeside, they will look to take advantage of their home court for the first time this season as they take on Grovetown  at 5:00  p.m.  on Tuesday.
