Softball Recap: Harrison Central Has No Trouble Against Brooke

Harrison Central made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Brooke, but they still couldn't quite topple them. Harrison Central put the hurt on Brooke with a sharp 13-7 win on Monday. The Huskies might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three games by six runs or more this season.

Emma Skinner spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and four unearned) runs on nine hits and racked up seven Ks. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in April of 2024.

On the hitting side, Kelsey Powers was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Olivia Tonkovich, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in two of her four plate appearances.

Harrison Central hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Brooke struck out seven times.

Harrison Central now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Brooke, their defeat was their 16th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-8.

Coming up, Brooke will be playing in front of their home fans against Madonna at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Harrison Central will be paying especially close attention to Brooke's contest: after Brooke faces off against Madonna, they'll take on Harrison Central again at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
