The Athens Drive Jaguars will take on the Wake Prep Academy Guardians at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The two teams are strolling into their matchups after big wins in their previous games.
Athens Drive will bounce into Monday's contest after beating Sanderson, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. Athens Drive was the clear victor by a 15-2 margin over Sanderson on Friday. That 13 run margin sets a new team best for the Jaguars this season.
Julia Seriguchi Chen was a major factor no matter where she played. She struck out six batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits (and not a single walk). That's the fewest hits she has allowed since back in March of 2024. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 3-for-5.

In other batting news, Athens Drive let Cora Driscoll and Isabelle Catalano run wild. Driscoll scored three runs while going 4-for-5, while Catalano went 1-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Those three RBI gave Catalano a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Saryn Duggan, who scored a run while going 3-for-5.
Athens Drive was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Wake Prep Academy had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 11.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three last Friday. They blew past the Lions 13-5.
Charlize Kell made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed four innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off four hits. Kell was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing two bases while getting on base in two of her three plate appearances.
In other batting news, Annalise Masinick was a standout: she scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in five of her six plate appearances. Kyndall Miller was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing three bases while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances.
Wake Prep Academy's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 3-3. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.7 runs over those games. As for Athens Drive, their victory ended an 11-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-8.
Athens Drive beat Wake Prep Academy 9-6 in their previous meeting back in February of 2024. Does Athens Drive have another victory up their sleeve, or will Wake Prep Academy turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
