Softball Recap: Russell Has No Trouble Against Sentinel

While Russell put up plenty of runs on Saturday, the same can't be said for Sentinel. The Rustlers blew past the Spartans 15-0. The Rustlers haven't had any issues with the Spartans recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.

Ella Cron made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out nine over five innings pitched. Cron was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two RBI.

In other batting news, Taylor Thompson and Georgia Hatzenbeller did most of the damage at the plate: Thompson went a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI, while Hatzenbeller got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs and one RBI. That triple marked the first that Thompson has hit this season. Hayden Olson was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

Russell was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .462. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Sentinel only posted a batting average of .188.

Russell's record is now 3-6. As for Sentinel, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-6.

Russell wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 13-2 loss against Gallatin on the 22nd. As for Sentinel, they have also already played their next match, a 3-1 defeat against Helena on the 22nd.
