Baseball Recap: Talawanda Beats Edgewood for Their Third Straight Win

Talawanda barely beat Edgewood the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Brave blew past the Cougars 15-9 on Tuesday. The Brave might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four matchups by six runs or more this season.

Talawanda let Adam Achterman and Ryan Wright run wild. Achterman scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3, while Wright scored two runs while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances. Wright is becoming a predictor of Talawanda's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 0-7 when he doesn't). Hunter Griffin was another key player, scoring three runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Talawanda hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post two or more strikeouts.

The victory was the third in a row for Talawanda, bringing their record up to 5-7. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.7 runs over those games. As for Edgewood, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-3.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Talawanda will face off against Mt. Healthy at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Edgewood, they will square off against Ross at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Rams' pitching crew has only allowed 2.6 runs per game this season, so the Cougars' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
