The Tolono Unity Rockets lost against the Bloomington Central Catholic Saints back in January of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. Tolono Unity fell 52-39 to Bloomington Central Catholic. While losing is never fun, Tolono Unity can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 258th, while Bloomington Central Catholic is ranked 70th).
Several Rockets players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Raegen Stringer, who scored 14 points along with five rebounds and five steals. Stringer has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last eight times she's played. Another player making a difference was Claire Meharry, who scored four points.
Bloomington Central Catholic's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Logan Shanks, who scored 12 points along with four steals. Lauren Emm was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with six rebounds.
Tolono Unity's loss dropped their record down to 13-9. As for Bloomington Central Catholic, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 16-5.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Tolono Unity will challenge Prairie Central at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Prairie Central is out to stop a six-game streak of losses at home. As for Bloomington Central Catholic, they will head out on the road to face off against Olympia at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
