Basketball Recap: Dupo's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

Dupo had to endure a 29-game losing streak dating back to last season, but that streak is no more. They snuck past the SIUE East St. Louis Charter Cougars with a 71-66 win on Friday. The Tigers' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Dupo's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Kaden Scheppleman, who posted 23 points. Deegan Prater was another key player, putting up 15 points.

SIUE East St. Louis Charter's loss came despite strong showings from Travis Harrell and Kejuan Rives. Harrell went 9 of 21 on his way to 28 points and six steals, while Rives went 7 of 15 on his way to 22 points and eight rebounds. Those 28 points gave Harrell a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Isaiah Foster, who had five points and four steals.

Dupo's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-6. As for SIUE East St. Louis Charter, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-7.

After both having extra time off, Dupo and First Baptist Academy will shake off the cobwebs and challenge one another at 7:00 p.m. on January 7th. Dupo has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for SIUE East St. Louis Charter, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 48-36 defeat against Southwestern on the 28th.
