Softball Game Preview: Atascocita Eagles vs. Conroe Tigers

Atascocita has gone a perfect 4-0 against Conroe recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Atascocita Eagles will be taking part in a tournament against the Conroe Tigers at 10:45 a.m. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Atascocita's hitters will try to repeat the strong performance they gave on Monday, when they got past Liberty's usually-dominant pitching crew. Atascocita was the clear victors by a 13-2 margin over Liberty. The Eagles' win was nothing new given the team hasn't lost yet this season.

Maya Hernandez spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on six hits.

At the plate, Morgan Marks and Rhilynn McCoy did most of the damage at the plate: Marks went 3-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one run, while McCoy scored three runs and stole three bases while going 2-for-5. That's the most stolen bases McCoy has posted since back in April of 2024. Ashlee Elizarraras was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.

Atascocita kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now hit at least 11 hits every time they've taken the field this season.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Conroe). They put the hurt on College Park with a sharp 16-9 victory on Monday. The win continues a trend for the Tigers in their matchups with the Cavaliers: they've now won six in a row.

Atascocita's victory was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 3-0. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 10.4 runs. As for Conroe, the win got them back to even at 2-2.

Atascocita took their victory against Conroe when the teams last played back in April of 2016 by a conclusive 10-0. Does Atascocita have another victory up their sleeve, or will Conroe turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
