Baseball Recap: South Lyon Has No Trouble Against Mott

South Lyon won the last time they faced Mott and things went their way on Monday too. The Lions were the clear victors by a 16-1 margin over the Corsairs. Considering the Lions have won four matches by more than nine runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Jacob Hardin looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up a single walk any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, Andrew Verona-Kerley was a standout: he went a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles. That's the most doubles he has posted since back in May of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Kade Ward, who went 1-for-2 with one home run and three RBI.

South Lyon always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .567. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Mott only posted an OBP of .143.

South Lyon has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-5 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.2 runs over those games. As for Mott, their defeat was their 19th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-13.

South Lyon will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Corsairs: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
