The Sunnyside Blue Devils had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 45.7 points), and they went ahead and made it four on Tuesday. They enjoyed a cozy 68-50 victory over Mountain View. Given Sunnyside's advantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 16th, while Mountain View is ranked 108th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Nayeli Nidez-Acu?a continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 26 points and 14 rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which she has scored at least 25% of Sunnyside's points. Another player making a difference was Alana Felix, who scored 10 points along with 3 steals.
Sunnyside's victory bumped their record up to 8-1. As for Mountain View, they now have a losing record at 2-3.
Sunnyside won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Pueblo at 7:00 p.m. on December 6th. Pueblo knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past six contests -- so hopefully Sunnyside likes a good challenge. Mountain View won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Cienega at 7:00 p.m. on December 6th. Hopefully Cienega focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 28 on Monday.
