CHARLESTON, W. Va. -
George Washington (Charleston, W. Va.) had a comfortable lead entering the fourth quarter, but used 21 fourth quarter points to seal the 49-20 victory over
Hampshire (Romney, W. Va.).
The Patriots were up 14-6 at the half after taking the lead on a touchdown pass by
Trever Bell to
Jordan Clay in the first quarter.
George Washington expanded its lead to 16 points entering the fourth quarter. GW scored two times in the third, including once on a touchdown run by
Ryan Switzer.
Switzer played well for the Charleston school in the victory. The senior running back threw one touchdown, ran for two touchdowns and caught one touchdown.
The win was a nice bounce back for the Patriots, which lost to Capital last week, 35-13.
George Washington (7-2) will play a non-conference game against St. Francis de Sales next week, while Hampshire (5-4) will take on Frankfort also in a non-conference game.
