The Cairo-Durham Mustangs are taking a road trip to square off against the Germantown Clippers at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.
Catskill hit Cairo-Durham with a ten-run sixth inning on Thursday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Mustangs came up short against the Cats, falling 15-8. The Mustangs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Jacob Young put in work while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over four innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Cairo-Durham is 4-2 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 1-6 otherwise. Young was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. That home run marked the first that he has launched this season.
In other batting news, Wyatt Cammarata made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played. Isaias Romero also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.
Meanwhile, Germantown was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They lost 13-0 to Taconic Hills.
Cairo-Durham's defeat dropped their record down to 5-8. As for Germantown, their loss dropped their record down to 2-13.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Monday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Cairo-Durham has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.8 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Germantown struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Cairo-Durham came out on top in a nail-biter against Germantown in their previous matchup back in April, sneaking past 4-3. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Mustangs since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
