In what's become a running theme this season, the Landrum Cardinals gave their fans yet another huge win on Friday. They took their game on the road with ease, bagging a 64-22 win over Greenville Tech Charter. The victory was familiar territory for Landrum who now have five in a row.
Landrum's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Kaylee Cortez, who scored 25 points along with three steals. Cortez is crushing the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Savannah Brown was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with seven assists and four steals.
Despite the loss, Greenville Tech Charter saw an underclassman step up: Sophie Chasteen scored eight points along with eight rebounds and two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Cara Kenney, who scored four points along with five steals.
Landrum is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten matches, which provided a nice bump to their 20-3 record this season. As for Greenville Tech Charter, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-12.
Landrum will head out on the road to face off against the Blazers at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Greer Middle College will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps South Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 248th, while the Cardinals are ranked 45th). As for Greenville Tech Charter, they will look to defend their home court on Monday against the Wildcats at 6:15 p.m. Hopefully Blacksburg focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up eight on Friday.
