The St. James Wildcats will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against the Sterlington Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on December 1st. Both teams have allowed few points on average, (St. James: 14.5, Sterlington: 11.6) so any points scored will be well earned.
St. James extended their postseason success on Friday against Many. They took their match on the road with ease, bagging a 40-0 victory over the Tigers. St. James might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team's won seven matches by 22 points or more this season.
St. James can attribute much of their success to Brayden Williams, who rushed for 33 yards and two touchdowns, and Kani King-young, who rushed for 105 yards and a touchdown on only eight carries. King-young was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 53 yards.
Meanwhile, Sterlington came tearing into Friday's matchup with 11 straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 26.2 points) and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top against Pine by a score of 33-20. Sterlington's victory was all the more impressive since Pine was averaging only 16.85 points allowed on the season.
St. James' win bumped their record up to 10-2. As for Sterlington, their victory was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 11-1.
St. James took their win against Sterlington in their previous meeting back in December of 2020 by a conclusive 28-7. Does St. James have another victory up their sleeve, or will Sterlington turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
