The Downtown Doral Dolphins fell on hard times earlier this season, but after back-to-back wins it seems like their luck might finally be changing. Everything went their way against Pinecrest Glades Academy on Wednesday as Downtown Doral made off with a 71-47 victory. With Downtown Doral ahead 43-19 at the half, the contest was all but over already.
It was another big night for Juan Diego Castro, who scored 31 points. He hasn't dropped below 15 points for six straight games. Another player making a difference was Giancarlo Romero, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 15 rebounds.
Pinecrest Glades Academy's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Keith Hernandez, who scored nine points along with seven rebounds and five assists. Hernandez is absolutely dominating the steal category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Ronnie Rivero, who scored 12 points.
Downtown Doral's win bumped their record up to 3-12. As for Pinecrest Glades Academy, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-4.
Downtown Doral won't have much time to rest: their next game is against JC Bermudez Doral at 7:30 p.m. on January 25th. JC Bermudez Doral is coming into the game on a four-game losing streak. As for Pinecrest Glades Academy, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Colonial Christian at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Colonial Christian is no doubt hoping to put an end to a six-game streak of away losses.
