Westerly found their leader in freshman Ella Reyes, who dropped a double-double with 25 points and 11 boards. Reyes is also crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Madison Pellegrino, who posted seven points and ten rebounds.
Westerly smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in 15 consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, North Kingstown entered their tilt with St. Mary Academy-Bay View on Friday with 13 consecutive wins , and they'll enter their next game with 14. They were the clear victor by a 66-40 margin over the Bengals. The Skippers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 14 games by 24 points or more this season.
Westerly better keep an eye on Jaelyn Holmes. She was instrumental in North Kingstown's win, on her way to 27 points and four steals. That's the most points Holmes has posted since back in January. Shea Kalin was another key player, en route to 16 points along with five boards and three steals.
North Kingstown pushed their record up to 22-1 with the win, which was their eighth straight at home. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 28 points. As for Westerly, their victory bumped their record up to 17-6.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Westerly has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 30 rebounds per game. However, it's not like North Kingstown struggles in that department as they've been averaging 30.7 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
