With a playoff game on the line, Veritas Academy rose to the challenge on Friday. They put the hurt on the Knights with a sharp 77-56 victory. Yes, you read that score correctly, and yes, they were playing football.
Leading Veritas Academy to victory were Joey MacPherson and Brighton Bresemann. MacPherson gained 225 total yards and four touchdowns, while Bresemann gained 464 total yards and three touchdowns. MacPherson was no stranger to the big play, connecting with a big catch that went for 63 yards.
Kyler Conner and Ethan Howard certainly did their best on Friday to try and avoid the loss. Conner rushed for 167 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 8.4 yards per carry, while Howard rushed for 119 yards and a touchdown on only 15 carries.
The victory was the fourth in a row for Veritas Academy, bringing their record for this year to 7-4. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.0 points per game. As for Hill Country Christian School of Austin, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-2.
Veritas Academy will be staying on the road on Thursday to face off against Emery/Weiner at 11:00 a.m. on November 30th. Emery/Weiner has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 601 points over their last nine contests. Hill Country Christian School of Austin does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
