Keshrey Smith Jr. of
Blair (Pasadena, Calif.) is high school boys basketball's national leader in assists per game with a 12.7 average, according to statistics submitted to MaxPreps. The 6-foot point guard has reached double figures in assists 25 times this season.
In addition to his national-leading assist total, Smith averages 10.0 points, 2.7 steals and 2.6 rebounds per game. He dealt out a season-high 18 assists during a 91-34 win over Mesrobian in November.
Smith has produced 14 double-doubles in points and assists so far this season.
Ikee Brooks of
Hansberry (Chicago) is No. 2 nationally at 12.2 assists per game. The 6-foot guard dished out a season-high 20 assists in a 77-43 win over UIC College Prep. Brooks has produced 13 triple-doubles on the season.
