Immediately following a season-opening win for No. 2-ranked Milton (Ga.) on Wednesday night, high school basketball players Jonathan Murray and Cameron Walker were taken into custody on murder charges relating to the shooting-death of a 24-year old man in October according to the
Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
Details are few at this point, but the Alpharetta Department of Public Safety confirmed the development via Facebook, saying the case has been under investigation for the past month and remains open.
Murray and Walker, a senior who was committed to George Mason, will be held without bail in the Fulton County Jail.
Milton is among the most prominent high school basketball programs in Georgia, winning the AAAAAAA state title in 2021. The Eagles also won state crowns in 2010 and 2012. This year's team was expected to be among the best in school history behind Ohio State pledge Bruce Thornton and junior star Kanaan Carlyle.
Milton athletic director Gary Sylvestri took to Twitter Thursday morning to address the situation.
