Tonkawa has gone 8-2 against Pawnee recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Buccaneers will head out on the road to take on the Black Bears at 5:00 p.m. Tonkawa will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.
Tonkawa had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the eight-run drubbing they dealt Morrison on Monday. The Buccaneers blew past the Wildcats 9-1. The Buccaneers not only won on Monday, but they posted their biggest win since April 1st (when they won 10-2).
Westyn Freeman was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed six innings while giving up just one earned run off six hits. Freeman was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March of 2024.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Brett Shepherd, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI. Cayden Duvall was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
Ripley hit Pawnee with a six-run second inning on Thursday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Black Bears lost 11-1 to the Warriors. The Black Bears have struggled against the Warriors recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost meeting.
Cale McPeek made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases and one double. Those stolen bases were his first of the season.
Tonkawa's record now sits at 18-7. As for Pawnee, their loss dropped their record down to 4-16.
Pawnee's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Tonkawa hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .327. It's a different story for Pawnee, though, as they've only averaged .223. Will they be able to contain Tonkawa's hitters?
Everything went Tonkawa's way against Pawnee when the teams last played back in March, as Tonkawa made off with an 8-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Buccaneers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
