Having just played yesterday, the Santee Warriors will jump right back in to play the Ponca Indians at 2:30 p.m. on Friday. Given that both teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.
On Thursday, Santee lost to Wakefield on the road by a decisive 59-40 margin. Santee has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Despite the loss, Santee saw an underclassman step up: Miley Pike scored 20 points. Pike scored a full 50% of Santee's points, the eighth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Layla Johnson was another key contributor, scoring ten points.
Meanwhile, Ponca ended up a good deal behind Wisner-Pilger on Thursday and lost 52-35.
Santee's defeat dropped their record down to 4-4. As for Ponca, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-5 record this season.
