Eleva-Strum fell victim to Osseo-Fairchild and their airtight pitching crew on Monday. They fell just short of the Thunder by a score of 2-0.
Eleva-Strum saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Calvin Barneson, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Melrose-Mindoro, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. They never let Augusta get on the board and left with a 13-0 victory on Monday. The result was nothing new for the Mustangs, who have now won eight matches by eight runs or more so far this season.
Brett Peterson made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (four). He was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one triple.
In other batting news, Eric Herzberg was a standout: he went 2-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Jacob Thesing, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs.
Melrose-Mindoro always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .529. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Augusta only posted an OBP of .158.
Melrose-Mindoro's win bumped their record up to 14-5. As for Eleva-Strum, they dropped their record down to 5-10 with the loss, which was their sixth straight on the road.
