Graham-Kapowsin has enjoyed a five-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will square off against the Lake Stevens Vikings at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Graham-Kapowsin had already proven themselves in the regular season, and didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They had just enough and edged Eastlake out 27-24.
Graham-Kapowsin's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jabez Woods, who gained 79 total yards and a touchdown, and also threw for four yards and a touchdown while completing 100% of his passes. Daveon Superales and his 85 yards on the ground were also a key factor in Graham-Kapowsin's victory.
Meanwhile, Lake Stevens faced Kamiakin in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Lake Stevens claimed a resounding 48-7 victory over Kamiakin at home. Lake Stevens might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team's won ten games by 23 points or more this season.
Graham-Kapowsin has yet to lose a game at home this season, leaving them with a 13-0 record. As for Lake Stevens, the win (which was their ninth in a row) raised their record to 12-1.
Graham-Kapowsin ended up a good deal behind Lake Stevens in their previous matchup back in November of 2022, losing 42-28. Can Graham-Kapowsin avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
