After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Lakeville North, the Mayo Spartans were happy to have found some success on Tuesday. They enjoyed a cozy 67-51 win over Owatonna. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Mayo also won the last time the pair played back in December of 2023.
Owatonna's loss came despite strong showings from Maryn Pool and Jersey Coleman. Pool scored 16 points along with four steals, while Coleman scored 12 points along with five rebounds. Carsyn Brady was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with 11 rebounds and two steals.
Mayo is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 13-4 record this season. As for Owatonna, they now have a losing record at 8-9.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mayo will square off against Faribault at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Faribault is out to stop a six-game streak of losses at home. As for Owatonna, they will head out on the road to face off against Hastings at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Hastings is coming into the match hot, having won their last four games.
