After a string of four wins, the Leadership Academy Falcons's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They took a 57-47 hit to the loss column at the hands of Piedmont Classical. Leadership Academy was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bobcats apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2023.
Despite the loss, Leadership Academy still got an impressive performance from Emmy Guldberg, who almost dropped a double-double on 24 points and nine steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Guldberg has scored all season. Brenna Lauten was another key contributor, scoring three points along with 11 rebounds and four steals.
It was another big night for Ge'Kayla Goins, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds for Piedmont Classical. It was the first time this season that Goins pulled down eight or more rebounds. Another player making a difference was Keniya Waring, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 13 rebounds.
Leadership Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 11-5. As for Piedmont Classical, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a massive bump to their 6-8 record this season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Leadership Academy will take on the Villains at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Bishop McGuinness presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than the Falcons in North Carolina (the Villains are ranked 63rd, while the Falcons are ranked 274th). As for Piedmont Classical, they will be playing at home against the Firebirds at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Phoenix Academy is coming into the game on a four-game losing streak.
