The Community Vikings/Viqueens's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They fell to Macon County 35-31. While losing is never fun, Community can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 254th, while Macon County is ranked 121st).
Several Vikings/Viqueens players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Brooklyn Yoes, who scored 8 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Alyssa White, who scored 8 points.
Even though they lost, Community were working as a unit and finished the game with 11 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Macon County only racked up four.
Natalie Green was the offensive standout of the game as she scored 17 points along with 5 rebounds and 3 steals. Another player making a difference was Laityn Kirby, who scored 7 points.
Community has been struggling recently, as they've lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-6 record this season. As for Macon County, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 5-2.
Community will head out on the road to face off against Richland at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Macon County, they will be playing at home against Jackson County at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
