Given St. Clair's advantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 115th, while Cardinal Mooney Catholic is ranked 289th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Madison's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fourth straight loss dating back to last season. They fell just short of Marine City by a score of 47-44.
St. Clair's victory was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 4-1. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.7 points per game. As for Madison, their loss dropped their record down to 0-3.
St. Clair came up short against Madison in their previous meeting back in February, falling 58-46. Can St. Clair avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
