Rosewood is 7-2 against North Duplin since October of 2014, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Thursday. The Rosewood Eagles will be playing in front of their home fans against the North Duplin Rebels at 7:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Rosewood had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 18.5 points), and they went ahead and made it five two weeks ago. They claimed a resounding 55-8 win over Union at home. With Rosewood ahead 48-0 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.
David Lamm was his usual excellent self, rushing for 89 yards and three touchdowns on only seven carries. Lamm is on a roll when it comes to rushing touchdowns, as he's now punched in two or more in the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Nazier Powell, who rushed for 79 yards and a touchdown.
Meanwhile, North Duplin was fully in charge on Friday, breezing past Union 49-8 at home. The result was nothing new for North Duplin, who have now won four matches by 41 points or more so far this season.
Dujuan Armwood continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 225 yards and three touchdowns on only ten carries. Armwood was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 63 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Luke Kelly, who rushed for 59 yards and a touchdown.
North Duplin's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB four times. Leading the way was Isaac Davis and his two sacks.
Rosewood's victory was their third straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 5-3. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 32.7 points per game. North Duplin has been no stranger to the win column this season, as they've started out with wins in six of their first eight matchups, giving them a 6-2 record.
Keep an eye on the end zone in Thursday's game as Rosewood and North Duplin haven't had much trouble getting there this season. Rosewood commands a daunting offense this season, having averaged 4.5 touchdowns per game. However, it's not like North Duplin struggles in that department as they've been even better at 5 per game. With these two high-octane teams facing off on Thursday, fans should be in for an exciting offensive matchup.
Everything came up roses for Rosewood against North Duplin in their previous matchup back in October of 2022 as the squad secured a 45-8 win. Does Rosewood have another victory up their sleeve, or will North Duplin turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
