Even though the Daphne Trojans scored an imposing 56 points on Friday, the Theodore Bobcats still came out on top. It was close, but Theodore ultimately received the gift of a 58-56 win from a begrudging Bobcatssquad. Given their advantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 82nd, while Daphne is ranked 247th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Houston Cunningham continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 26 points along with three steals. The match was his fifth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaden "JJ" Bush, who scored eight points along with five rebounds.
Theodore now has a winning record of 7-6. As for Daphne, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-9.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Theodore will be home for the holidays to greet Hewitt-Trussville at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Daphne will be home for the holidays to greet Pace at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Pace is hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses.
