Basketball Recap: Fossil Ridge Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

There's no place like home for Fossil Ridge, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They strolled past the Saginaw Rough Riders with points to spare on Saturday, taking the game 67-52. The win was some much needed relief for the Panthers as it spelled an end to their seven-game losing streak.

Fossil Ridge got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Canyon Collier out in front who went 7 for 16 en route to 19 points and five steals. Collier is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last five games he's played. DJ Smith was another key player, dropping a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds.

When it comes to explaining why Saginaw lost, don't look at Willie McCrary. Despite the final result, he went 9 of 12 on his way to 21 points and six boards. Those six rebounds gave McCrary a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Eugene Roseberry, who posted 11 points along with six boards and four steals.

Fossil Ridge's win was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 11-13. As for Saginaw, they have been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last ten contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-18 record this season.

Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Granbury the next time they take the court. Fossil Ridge will head out to face Granbury at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, while Saginaw will head out to face them at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
