The Page Pirates scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They really took it to Western Guilford for the full four quarters, racking up a 84-55 victory at home. Winning may never get old, but Page sure is getting used to it with their third in a row.
Page's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Hattie Sloyan led the charge by scoring 25 points along with eight rebounds and four steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Sloyan has scored all season. Lola Vanore was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 14 points and 12 assists.
Western Guilford's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Leila Henderson, who scored 15 points along with five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Kayla Bridges, who scored nine points along with three steals and three blocks.
Page's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-12. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.7 points per game. As for Western Guilford, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-12.
Page will head out on the road to challenge Northwest Guilford at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Page will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 301st, while Northwest Guilford is ranked 84th). As for Western Guilford, they will be playing at home against Grimsley at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Western Guilford is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 52.4 points per game this season.
