Baseball Recap: Dekalb Snags Sixth Win in Last Eight Games

DeKalb won the last time they faced Naperville North and things went their way on Thursday too. The Barbs blew past the Huskies 9-1. The result was nothing new for the Barbs, who have now won 11 contests by seven runs or more so far this season.

Brodie Farrell made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out nine batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with four RBI and one triple. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high.

Farrell wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Ruari Bengford, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs. Another was Nik Nelson, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI.

DeKalb is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 23-10-1 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.1 runs on average over those games. As for Naperville North, their defeat dropped their record down to 15-15.

Looking ahead, DeKalb will take on Rochelle at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Naperville North does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
