The South Central Falcons typically have all the answers at home, but on Monday the Western Alamance Warriors proved too difficult a challenge. They came out on top against the Falcons by a score of 55-48. The win was all the more spectacular given Western Alamance's disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 86th, while South Central is ranked 33rd).
It was another big night for Tina Bowers, who scored 20 points along with eight rebounds and five assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Cayden White, who scored nine points along with six rebounds.
The win (which was Western Alamance's fourth in a row) raised their record to 9-6. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.5 points per game. As for South Central, their defeat ended a seven-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 11-2.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Western Alamance will take on Person at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for South Central, they will head out on the road to square off against Jacksonville at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Jacksonville's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last five matches.
