Minooka (Ill.) jumped out to an early lead against Plainfield Central (Plainfield, Ill.) and never looked back on the way to a 45-14 victory on Saturday.
The Indians scored 10 points in the first quarter. Minooka scored on a touchdown run by
Joe Pashnick, a touchdown and a field goal by
Tyler Girard.
After taking the lead on a Pashnick touchdown run in the first quarter, MHS led 31-0 at the half.
Each side put up seven points during the third quarter, and the fourth quarter began with the margin still at 31.
The Wildcats' Akwasi Aikins was the standout player for his team. The sophomore running back threw one touchdown.
Shabari Bailey stood out for the Indians in the win. The junior ran for two touchdowns.
Last season's game between the teams resulted in a 52-20 win for Minooka.
The win was a nice bounce back for MHS, which lost to Oswego last week, 42-0. The loss comes after Plainfield Central defeated Romeoville 41-0 last week. The loss snapped Plainfield Central's 3-game winning streak. The victory snapped the Indians' 3-game losing streak.
Minooka (1-3) goes up against Plainfield East in a Southwest Prairie game matchup next week, while Plainfield Central (3-1) locks horns with Plainfield North also in a Southwest Prairie game.
