Even though the Altoona-Midway Jets have not done well against the Northeast Vikings recently (they were 1-7 in their previous eight matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Altoona-Midway secured a 40-35 W over the Vikings. The score was all tied up 11-11 at the break, but Altoona-Midway was the better team in the second half.
William Stackhouse was his usual excellent self, scoring 19 points along with four blocks and two steals. Stackhouse is crushing the steal category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jacob Meigs, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten rebounds.
The win makes it two in a row for Altoona-Midway and bumps their season record up to 10-6. As for Northeast, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-8.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Altoona-Midway will challenge the Titans at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Southern Coffey County comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 24 points in their last ten games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse. As for Northeast, they will head out on the road to face off against the Wildcats on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Kansas (Marmaton Valley is ranked 320th, while the Vikings are ranked 303rd).
