The Nickerson Panthers suffered their biggest loss yet this season on Saturday. They were beaten by Sunrise Christian Academy Silver 87-36. Nickerson was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 42-20.
Nickerson's loss came despite strong showings from Alex King and Riley Brawner. King scored 14 points, while Brawner scored nine points along with eight rebounds.
Sunrise Christian Academy Silver's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Canaan McElroy, who scored 17 points. Marko Pavlovic was another key contributor, scoring 14 points.
Nickerson's defeat dropped their record down to 2-8. As for Sunrise Christian Academy Silver, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 10-4.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Nickerson and Kingman will face off at 7:30 p.m. on January 23rd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. As for Sunrise Christian Academy Silver, they will head out on the road to challenge St. Mary's Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
